Alliband Business Services were contacted by Bury FC to carry out a Full IT Audit on their existing Infrastructure.
Their Head of IT and Press Officer Gordon Sorfleet had known for some time that their IT was “A little Tired” and also felt existing support was more reactive than proactive.
Phil Alliband made an appointment with Gordon for a no-obligation IT audit.

Half Time

The Audit took place two days after Gordon’s contact. It was discovered that although investment had been made in some areas namely new PC’s, other areas had been neglected. The Server at 8 years old was end of life by 3 years, the broadband was running through a low security “BT Home Hub”, the Anti-virus had stopped updating several months ago and the UPS was unsuitable for a Server environment.

Tactics

We normally install Servers over a weekend to minimize any disruption to our clients. Although there are no additional charges for this service, Bury FC are very busy on a weekend. If the first team is playing away, the stadium is still used by other teams.
We pre-configured the new Server and firewall in our workshops, setting up user accounts etc. in advance to the installation.
Bury FC had posted a notice on their web site stating that a network upgrade was taking place over a 3 day period and there would be some email disruption.
After an early start Monday morning, the Server was installed and within a couple of hours of the old server entering much deserved retirement, email was flowing in once more.
The Company Data was copied onto the new Server Monday night and Tuesday morning key users were fully operational. By close of business Tuesday all users were back fully operational, leaving us all of Wednesday to upgrade the PC’s with more memory and Office 2010.
We also arranged a 3 year lease agreement to help their cash flow, leaving plenty of budget to spend on players … (well put towards players at least)

Bury FC are not a premiership club (just yet) but they certainly have Premiership Standard IT and Security in place.

Alliband Business Services won the contract to supply and install the Audio Visual requirements for Stourbridge Colleges brand new Art & Design Centre.

The building contractors were unsuccessful with their tender to carry out the AV work as Allibands solution enabled the college to save in excess of 40K

This left Alliband and the College with a problem – none of the AV works could take place until the building contractors had handed the building over to the college. Two weeks before the start of term!

Never shy of a challenge, Alliband agreed to carry out the work, in the required time scales with only one condition. We needed un-limited access to the building, 7 days a week, 7.00am – 10.00pm for the two weeks.

The Result

Epson supplied all the Projectors through our distributor on a “special Bid Basis” A saving to our client of £180.00 per projector.
All equipment was purchased two months in advance and stored at our warehouse. This avoided any potential supply issues that are quite common during educations summer break.
The builders handed the site over to their client at 3.00pm on the Friday, within 30 minutes our engineers had started work.
The project was completed 3 days before the start of term and all class rooms operated without any issues.
